GREG ENGLERT  - '25 years Anniversary - 'Tonight I'm with you - 2016 Special Edition' - Single

(GEM 010)

‘Tonight I’m with you’ was originally released in 2011 as part of a 4 song EP  – ‘Tonight I’m with you – 4 songs of love’ (GEM-006), (Available at all good on-line stores) by Sydney based singer, composer, multi- instrumentalist Nicholas Woodford.  The original version was a light pop/rock ballad reaching number 5 on several on-line music charts.

Greg handed the re-imagining of this song to his great friend in New York, Vinnie Zummo (former Joe Jackson Band Guitarist, film composer and studio musician) to give his own special vibe to the song.  Vinnie’s arrangement with soaring guitars, background vocals, drums etc result in a soaring, powerful song with lush layers of guitars and vocals that float up and support the original Nicholas Woodford vocals to perfection.  Once heard, this song cannot be forgotten and you will find yourself singing the hook in your head constantly!

GREG ENGLERT  - '25 years Anniversary - 'Everything's going my way - 2016 Special Edition' - Single

(GEM 012)

Greg Englert – Sydney, Australia – Composer, Producer, Arranger – All Instruments.

Nicholas Woodford – Sydney Australia – Vocals

Meera Belle – Sydney Australia – Vocals

‘Everything’s going my way’ was originally a light Pop/Rock love ballad released in 2011 as part of the EP ‘Tonight I’m with you’ (GEM-006), (Available at all good on-line stores) by the composer Greg Englert.

In the spirit of his 25th anniversary special edition releases, Greg started exploring the song and came up with a distinct drum feel that was reminiscent of Civil War/Military Band drumming and decided to re-imagine the song using that feel.  He kept the original vocal by Nicholas Woodford, which was recorded in a major key, and then added a minor key drone and period instruments to completely change the song from a happy love ballad to something more mysterious and brooding.  As he painted the picture an entire story of conflicting emotions came pouring out.  It became a soldier lying on a battlefield thinking about his life and how wonderful it has been because of his love for his wife back home.  However whilst he sings it, there is that constant feeling that he may die tomorrow and it will all be gone.

The final piece of the story was the wife back home, who is also at that moment thinking about her husband far away. Greg brought in his dear friend,  the exceptional singer Meera Belle who very quickly created the part of the wife with her amazing ability to sing harmonies.

The result is something that was not intended when Greg started this series of releases.  But it grew into a complete story which had to be told.  Remember,  Everything may be going your way, but will it last?...

GREG ENGLERT  - '25 years Anniversary - 'Rainbow Dance - 2016 Special Edition' - Single

Featuring Ms Sandie White on Vocals

(GEM 014)

Rainbow Dance was originally released as a latin/jazz song with vocals by Ms Jo Kenderes in 2013 as part of a 3 song EP - Days like these, (GEM007) available on CD baby and all good on-line stores.

Greg handed the re-imagining of this song to his dear friend and legendary Australian Jazz songstress Sandie White. Sandie took the song apart and re-built it using her unique ability to weave and scat, creating what Greg has called "the definitive version of this song". Sandie's scat chorus was recorded in one take, a testament to her amazing vocal abilities! The result is a beautiful, free and flowing swing song that keeps the listener entranced from the very start.

GREG ENGLERT  - '25 years Anniversary - 'At Sunset - 2016 Special Edition' - Single

Featuring Ms Meera Belle on Vocals

Greg Englert – Sydney, Australia – Composer, co-producer, all instruments and backing vocals.

Meera Belle – Sydney, Australia – Lead vocal

Steve Turnidge - Ars Divina/UltraViolet Studios, Seattle, U.S.A. – Mastering

‘At Sunset’ was originally released in 2013 as part of a 3 song EP – ‘Days like these’ (GEM-007), (Available at all good on-line stores) composed by Greg Englert and featuring the multi-talented Sydney based singer, Ms Jo Kenderes. The song received a Runner-up top award for the world-wide ‘Song of the year’ July 2009 competition and was a top 5 finalist in the same competition in November 2009. At Sunset also achieved number 1 status on the MP3.com charts in both the Latin and the Jazz charts as well as number 3 on the Soundclick Latin and Smooth Jazz charts.

This new 2016 Special Edition features the amazing Sydney based vocalist Meera Belle. Dubbed The Ruby Voice by her first teacher, she was offered a place at the Royal Northern College of Music in which she debuted at the UK premiere of seminal Dutch composer Louis Andriesson’s ‘Die Materie’, capturing the attention of the composer himself.

After hearing her mezzo solo in ‘The Sword and The Crown’ (Gregson), conductor Nicholas Childs asked her to record with the world famous Black Dyke Brass band to critical acclaim:
“…..a stunning recording…”, John Maines, British Bandsman.

She made her Royal Albert Hall debut at the World Premiere of ‘An Age Of Kings’ and then her Welsh debut in St David’s Hall, Cardiff.

Meera has since created the roles of The Diva and The Angel for daring outdoor spectacular ‘Albatross’, braving several thousand pounds worth of fireworks exploding directly behind her. ‘Albatross’, a multi-media show based on ‘The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner’, was a highlight at the 2004 Glastonbury Festival. She was also the featured soloist at Manchester’s inaugural Last Night of The Proms.
Meera debuted the lead role of Isabella in the world premiere of ‘Isabella And The Pot Of Basil’ in Covent Garden, January 2005.

Following her first contract in 2004 as Featured Vocalist aboard the QE2 cruise liner and she was invited back immediately for the 2005 World Cruise (Voyage of Discovery), during which she reprised her highly successful “Viva Diva” Show with fellow soprano Ellen Smith in 2006.

Meera appeared as the Botticelli ‘Venus’ in a new outdoor mini-opera performed at UK’s largest arts festival, Brighton, and at the annual Garden of Delights Festival in Manchester where she arose from the shell suspended in a lake.

Meera's work is deliberately diverse spanning concert/opera/music theatre/straight theatre/street theatre/pop/jazz and she has also recorded several dance singles with UK producers Force Four.

Since her return to Sydney, she has coached with cabaret legend Paula Langlands, former NIDA Head Of Voice Tim Patston and Patricia Oertel. As well as performing her own shows, she has teamed up with John Hardaker to perform in BossaBaby - a sexy latin twist on old rock and pop classics - check the Audio Page for recordings!

Most recently, Meera has returned from concerts in Russia with her vintage vocal trio, The Starr Sisters.

The track was mastered by Steve Turnidge from Ars Divina/Ultra Violet Studios in Seattle, Washington.

GREG ENGLERT  - '25 years Anniversary - 'Tell me so' - 2016 Special Edition' - Single

Featuring Ms Stephanie Foster on Vocals

(GEM 016)

15 year old Stephanie Foster will bring you to tears with her sweet and innocent rendition of a love song.

‘Tell me so’ was originally released in 2004 as part of the album ‘Here with you’ (GEM-002), (Available at all good on-line stores) by the composer Greg Englert.  The original version was a light pop love ballad.

Greg handed the re-imagining of this song to a delightful 15 year old young lady Stephanie Foster.  Greg met Stephanie when he performed as part of the New Empire Ballroom Ragtime Dance Orchestra in Australia in which Stephanie played violin.  It didn’t take long for Greg to find out that Stephanie was also an extremely talented Lyric Coloratura Soprano singer.  Greg immediately saw that such a beautiful, sweet and innocent voice was perfect for his song ‘Tell me so’ however focusing on a much lower range than Stephanie was used to revealing a warm and solid lower range!  The result is a delightful song that is guaranteed to move your emotions and bring you to tears, it is just that sweet.  Whilst recording the song Greg also asked Stephanie to try some of her Lyric Colurtura singing and out came this amazing voice!  Wow!  So we had to put a little teaser on the end of the song.  You will be amazed at the talent in such a young person!  A future, Sarah Brightman?

GREG ENGLERT  - '25 years Anniversary - 'Oh Baby' - (Single only)

Featuring Scott Bennett, Vinnie Zummo & Tim Ross

(GEM 017)

Greg Englert – Sydney, Australia – Composer, co-producer.

Scott Bennett – Los Angeles, U.S.A. – Lead vocal

Vinnie Zummo – New York City, U.S.A. – all instruments, backing vocals, co-producer, arranger

Tim Ross – Florida, U.S.A. – Vocals.

Steve Turnidge - Ars Divina/UltraViolet Studios, Seattle, U.S.A. – Mastering

A tribute to the music of Brian Wilson and the Beach boys with soaring vocals, stunning backing harmonies and that wonderful surf music guitar feel.

‘Oh Baby’ was originally a Dixieland jazz composition ‘Mee Woo’s Blues’ released in 1990 as part of the album ‘Wockwongs’ (Ozz jazz 001), (Available at all good on-line stores) by the composer Greg Englert.

As the series involves re-imagining previously released songs of Greg’s by other people, he went for a rummage through his compositions and found the second song he ever wrote called Mee Woo's Blues. You can imagine his surprise when he pulled out the original music and found written on the back of the paper "Originally titled 'Gee Baby don't you know what you're doing to me" with a full lyric.......

So he recorded quick demos and came up with the idea to do the song in a Beach Boys style. He sent the demos to his buddy Vinnie Zummo (former Joe Jackson guitarist, studio musician, composer, arranger) in New York City with instructions to do a Beach Boys version of the song. Vinnie proceeded to build a really wonderful arrangement of the song featuring great guitars and multi-layered vocals a-la early Beach Boys. Vinnie and Greg decided that such a song really needed a West Coast US voice to sing the lead vocal.

There was really only one person Greg could hear singing this song and that was his friend Scott Bennett from L.A.  Scott is a Grammy winning, Golden Globe nominated multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer and producer who has created songs and performed with rock’s legends: the Beach Boys, 15 years with Brian Wilson, Paul McCartney, Jeff Beck, David Crosby, Billy Joel, Neil Young, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon and Elton John.  Brian Wilson has called Scott “the most talented musician I’ve ever met.”  Scott is one of the few people to have written songs and produced albums with Brian Wilson.

Greg contacted Scott and he was more than happy to help.  Despite only having a small window of opportunity to record the vocals, (small side issues such as a Golden Globe Nomination, ceremony and Brian Wilson concerts!), Scott produced exactly what Vinnie and Greg were after.  The final ‘icing on the cake’ comes from the uber talented Tim Ross, creator of the animated cartoon band ‘Apology None’.  Tim contributed the vocals for the middle eight section of the song!  Thanks Tim.  (Don’t forget to check out Tim and Apology None).

The track was mastered by Steve Turnidge from Ars Divina/Ultra Violet Studios in Seattle, Washington.

The result is a homage to Greg’s musical hero Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys, with soaring vocals, lush harmonies and lots of “my baby” through a song originally recorded as a Dixieland jazz blues!

GREG ENGLERT  - '25 years Anniversary - 'Wombat Wobble (2016 Dance Mix)' - (Single only)

(GEM 018)

Greg Englert – Sydney, Australia – Composer, Producer, Arranger – All Instruments.

To celebrate 25 years as a music producer Sydney based composer, producer, musician Greg Englert decided to re-visit his previously released music. Rather than re-mix and use alternate takes Greg started a project to have his favourite singers and musicians from around the world re-imagine his compositions in their own special ways. The result is a series of epic special edition recordings ranging from Pop and Rock, through Jazz and Swing to Civil War Movie genres.

'Wombat Wobble' was originally a dixieland ditty released in 1990 as part Greg's first album 'Wockwongs' (Ozz Jazz 001), (Available at all good on-line stores) by the composer Greg Englert.

In the ensuing years Wombat Wobble has become Greg's most popular, most requested and most download/purchased recording with 10 times the sales as every other recording Greg has done combined!!

So in the spirit of the 25th Anniversary Series Greg decided to do a dance mix, especially for all his young fans who regularly Wobble along to the Wombat Wobble!

The dance mix includes the comments made in the original recording by Australian jazz legend Tony Howarth who ad-libbed some hilarious comments playing the role of the wombat!

I hope you enjoy the dance mix as much as I did making it - wobble wobble wobble!
